"People say that I'm naughty and they don't like me."

Timmy was constantly getting into trouble and struggled to make friends. Feeling misunderstood, he would often run away from school, seeking solace wherever he could. Beneath his mischievous exterior, Timmy was simply a boy who found it difficult to control his impulses and longed to be understood. Through Epworth's subsidised support, Timmy learned essential skills and strategies to build resilience in managing his emotions. Today, he can think before reacting and has gained control over his impulses. Timmy now enjoys sitting through classes and has discovered joy in learning, surrounded by the new friends he has made.

"Are we going to be able to care for the child like our own?"

With an abundance of love to give, this couple made the courageous decision to foster a child, fully aware of the challenges it might bring. As they faced moments of doubt, they questioned their ability to create a nurturing and stable environment. However, with Epworth’s guidance, they not only strengthened their own resolve but also helped their foster child build resilience. Today, the child is thriving, having developed the resilience needed to overcome her past challenges. In raising her, the couple has found renewed light and joy in their lives.

"I often experience feelings of not being good enough."

Being bullied during her school years was a deeply traumatic experience for Charlene. These distressing events made her fearful of trusting others and hesitant to form meaningful friendships. The rejection she faced from her peers also took a toll on her sense of self. With Epworth's trauma-informed support, Charlene learned to challenge her harmful thoughts and behavioural patterns, gradually building a life rooted in resilience. Today, Charlene has adopted healthy coping mechanisms and faces daily life challenges with newfound confidence.

Where Hope Blooms

Epworth Community Services is hosting a Fundraising Gala Dinner on Friday, 31 July 2026.

The theme for this year’s fundraising dinner is ‘Where Hope Blooms’. The theme reflects how Epworth’s programmes and services nurture at-risk and vulnerable children, youths, and families, helping them grow, build resilience and eventually, bloom.

We are aiming to raise $750,000 to support and expand our intervention programmes and therapeutic services. Funds raised will be directed to Epworth’s specialised departments, ensuring that intervention programmes and therapeutic services are easily available and accessible to those in the community.

With your support, we can help many more underprivileged children, youths and families. We want to give them brighter futures, one they can develop, bloom and flourish in.
